Section and billet mills

Depending on the intended application, SMS Meer designs customised long-product rolling mills for light and heavy standard sections, sheet piling sections, special sections and rails. We also build quality and stainless steel semi-product rolling mills for reversing or continuous operation as an optimised overall process, including the in-line heat treatment.

On semi-product mills for quality and stainless steels we use our ASC® system (Automatic Size Control) to produce very close tolerances and for temperature-controlled rolling. The integrated Multi-Purpose Section (MPS®) casting and rolling process permits the flexible production of an exceptionally broad range of sections in the shortest rolling sequence and with direct charging, allowing cost savings of up to 40% to be achieved. Where only beams are to be produced, CBP® (Compact Beam Production) represents an economical alternative.
